More papery goodness

         Rosespaper Koipaper Heartspaper
FurrypaperThis is part of my slowly growing paper stash, and I just had to share them because they're just so lush. I actually have to replace the koi patterned one and the hearts one, because I gave them away (eep!) with a couple of other sheets in return for a bookmaking lesson last week. Mmm. For anyone with a similar obsession with beautiful paper, the first (rose) patterned one came from Berkelouw's in Leichhardt, and the other three came from the delightful Pentimento gift shop on King Street in Newtown.

CessnocktocanberraFinally, this little strip of colour is actually a big strip of pictures... Click on it to experience the journey from Cessnock to Canberra as seen by me over my little red bonnet last weekend. I just thought it was interesting to see the change in landscape from lush semi-tropical northern coastal area through the urban areas and on to southern inland arriving in Canberra. Don't you just love the Harbour Bridge shot! I love the Glebe ones as well. It's funny, because I never knew I'd love a place so much. Returning to Sydney for me always feels like returning home, which is odd now that going back to my place in Canberra also feels like home. Heh. But I think I'll always think of Sydney as my soul-home, and I miss it constantly. Lucky for me my evil plans for the future are including many more bus day-trips back to hang with my knitting peeps and girly friends. yey!

Mmm. Paaaaper.

Coolpaper WarmpaperColour has always been something that has brought joy to me. It's funny, because I wear so much black, so often, that it does feel a little strange to say that with conviction. But so much of what I do has colour about it - calligraphy, my wool-dyeing, cross stitch, and now my newest discovery, bookbinding. Oh, the Familymas prezzies i have planned! I've cut all of these sets of sheets, ready to put into lovely coloured casings, and each bookling I make I learn something from.

Ladybeetlebook_2 Like this one, for instance. My biggest lesson from this one? Well the biggest one was the simplest one, and the one that my brilliant tutor Linda stressed time and time again, and which of course when it came to the crunch I completely forgot... "mark the head (top) of the book so you dont put it in upside down". Um, yeah. Lucky for me I didn't have time to print anything on the corners of the pages like I intended to, and just did a plain one. Unfortunately the top of the book looks quite messy (you can see it in the photo if you enlarge it), and the bottom is lovely and neat. Ooops. I'm planning on making a few other bits and pieces, including a photo album for David's parents and a visual diary for my calligraphy class's secret santa person :D

Quiet days...

MilletyummiesCookingbikkies...in which I play a bit of WoW, play with my birdy, cook stuff, and generally enjoy my time being broke with lots of time on my hands. Being broke is the sucky bit, but the rest of it's pretty nice. Seriously, can you imagine a better way to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon? The bikkies were great, white chocolate and raspberries. *purr* The baking dish with the millet it in was less about feeding Phoenix, and more about keeping her out of the cookie dough LOL... how cute can one little birdy get?

WinecharmsfinishedAnd yes... you must have a glass of wine on hand when you're hanging out and baking, and I've also finished beading up the cute little shrinky dink charms I made. I'll make some more sooner or later, but they're seriously fiddly and time-consuming, so I'll save those for the next dinner party we have. Utterly necessary if you don't want to end up drinking everyone else's spitty bits hehe. How cute is the purple sheep? I was trying to run with a bit of a knitting theme with these ones, so a punk knitter and a sheep was about as far as I got before I started doing little celtic knots and things. :D

Meanwhile, I'm still procrastinating with the finishing on my purple cardi, I have about 7 more beads to sew on, but they take a couple of minutes each and every time I think about it I just cringe. Ah well. *grin* I'll probably frantically sew them on half an hour before I decide I simply must wear it to such-and-such a place/event. Nothing much changes.

And finally, my big exciting news is... I've bought a car! Yay! It's time to finally say goodbye to Frankie, Canberra's Ugliest Motorcycle. Poor little Frankenbike. I hope he gets reincarnated as a nice Ducati or something.

Mmmmm bikkies

I'm cooking biscuits today in the hope that some people might remember to come by for knitting tomorrow.

He: "you wanna hop on the computer to play for a bit? I can watch the biscuits"

Me: "have you ever cooked biscuits before?"

He: "no..."

Me: "you'll burn em. Don't worry, I'll do it. It's not that I don't trust you..."

He: "you don't trust me!"

Me: "ok fine. I don't trust you. It's not that I don't love you..."

He: "you don't LOVE me!"

Me: "idiot."

Kissage ensues.

Hehe!

and today I did...

...well, I wrote this post twice.

No I didn't, I suppose. Cos I couldn't be arsed trying to duplicate the damn thing, so I'm doing it differently. :D

Sidfishous_2 The post my computer just ate was much longer, and I'm sure it was wittier, funnier, and of course forever lost. Ah well. I guess the fish in the soup ladle ate my homework. Hehe... that's Sid Fishous, getting a tiny holiday in a little blue bowl. :D

In the spirit of Brenda's Big Cleanup and Mayflower's Stash Sorting Sortie, I've had a hugely productive day, and halved the size of my knitting stash by putting the crap in the bin, and the unwanted stuff in a swaps baggie for next Sunday's knitfest at my place. Mmm mmm. Yay for one single bin of knitterly goodness. When I've cleared it out (except for the little leftover balls) I'll be employed full time once again, and will be able to buy yummy brand new yarn for a jumper. Mmm. Luxury yarn, you will be mine one day! This is the much-reduced stash...Stashsorting

I used a heap of big ziplock baggies which I liberated from work, since someone has been putting them in a drawer and never used them for anything. So half of them came home, and got useful. Wooties!

The other cool thing I did today is finally got onto the whole shrinky-dink wine charm project, which I intended to do... um... 4 years ago? Oops. Go procrastination. But no more! Today was anti procrass day, and I kicked procrastination butt! My first two were utterly adorable wow toons, modeled on the extremely cool artwork of Dark Legacy comics, and altered to look like mine and D's mains. How. Freekin. CUTE!!!
Winecharms
So now I'm sorting out the part of my stash which I'd forgotten about, which lives in various corners of the house, like on my bookshelves, and in that cute little basket in the corner of the dining area. And... eating Chinese food. Yummm. And... being amused at my fortune cookie... Fortune

This is one of those times that I really want to believe in this shit. Let's just say my new job sucks. Lots. And not just generally suckiness, I'm talking about a job which pays absolute CRAP, and I spend my entire shift nervous about my personal safety. Sounds just peachy, hm?

On the up side, yes, they're my fingers... and the nails aren't bitten any more! Amazing what happens when you finish uni, isn't it?
