Well, this is the first time I've ever made placemats.
I was surprised at how lovely they look. The photo shows the colours a little yellowed - I'm having issues getting the light and colour *just right* on my phone camera, and it does depend on the time of day - I snapped these quickly before I took off to work today so didn't really check it.The top photo, while a little blurrier, is truer to the actual colours, and of course there was the closeup I took of the peacock feather fabric the other day.
I left the fluffy decorative bits off the ends - they're mean to have a couple of tiny suffolk puffs and some cloth ribbon decorations, but I liked the elegant curves of the end pieces and the simplicity of the basic placemat shape. No point gilding the lily, right?
I'm loving these projects - they have tended to be things that I wouldn't normally have chosen to make, so I think it's pushing me beyond my usual choices of bags, bags and bags. ;)
